"But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.” Mark 14:16-9 |

What is the Sister to Sister Lectureship Retreat?
Sister to Sister Lectureship Retreat is an annual event designed to bring local sisters of the Churches of Christ together to form close knit relationships and to strive to support each other during times of distress, build up and admonish each other on key topics in a non-threatening environment. Sisters from all congregations participate in the decision-making and planning that exemplifies the unity Jesus talks about. |

Spend a Day with Like-minded Sisters She decided she was not going to sit in a pew and "pretend" the world was not tugging at our sisters. She knew there was a sister in Christ who could have helped her. God has planted sisters in this area to conquer any disaster the world throws at us. That sister may not be in your congregation, but she may be in the congregation across town. BUT, we won't know that if we don't get to know one another. The Lectureship Retreat is designed to bring us together (spiritually and physically). If we are around each other, we get to know each other, and we bond and grow together, all while glorifying God . And doing so will help build stronger women, stronger families, stronger congregations; and the world will know we are Christians by our love! A sister in Christ went through a life changing experience. She realized the need for support from a sister; however, in her congregation, she could not find just the right sister who would listen to, and understand her situation, without being judgmental and/or showing empathy. She turned to a secular counselor who helped her through her situation. She came out stronger, and back in stride with her Christian walk. However, It bothered her, being a strong Christian, that she could not find the support she needed within the sisterhood. It seemed much harder for a struggling sister. |
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:2–5 |
"Visibility"
Depending on our state of mind, our appearance may invoke a positive or negative response in people. Perhaps we chose to make no impression. That is still a choice, a conscious decision. It is the same with our faith. We can choose to be without visible faith or faith-neutral, or we can choose for our faith to be visible with a Godly example. Jesus provided us the perfect visible Godly example of true love while living on this earth. Sisters, are you visible to a dying and lost world? God is calling us to make a conscious decision to be a visible Godly example of HIS true love while on this earth.
Romans 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
"What are you doing personally to make your church family feel warm, welcoming and loved"? Sisters, when you attend worship are you visible or do you make yourself invisible e.g., refuse to fellowship with the saints and greet visitors? There are many people in the Church of Christ, in our families and in our community who are looking for Gods visibility, love and a place to belong. The truth is, everyone needs and wants to be loved, and when people find a church where members genuinely love and care for each other we know that God's purpose and love for that church is visible.
Let’s use this new season of fall to greet our sisters in Christ with a warm smile or hug. Let’s reach out to visitors to make them feel more comfortable and like they belong.
Let’s daily pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Let's check on them e.g., by phone, cards, letters, e-mails, and texts of encouragement. Let’s forgive those who have offended us. Let’s extend grace, mercy and kindness in all circumstances. And finally, let’s develop a deep visible Godly friendship with accountability and a place for all Christians to belong
Galatians 6:10
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
